James Brown Loops is for two antiphonal funk bands. The instrumentation of each band is: Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxophones, 2 Trumpets, Bass Trombone, Electric Bass, Drum set and Percussion. Small rhythmic fragments inspired by the eponymous Master and other hard-funking, horn-based bands (Fishbone, Tower of Power, George Clinton) are treated to various Medieval and Renaissance compositional techniques to achieve a wall of sound.
