Kenneth Fuchs will be recording his fifth CD at Abbey Road Studios with the London Symphony Orchestra, directed by JoAnn Falletta in later this month (August, 2017), and, as before, there are many other stars involved. Bringing together his most recent concerti means bringing together some stellar soloists. Mr. Fuchs plans to record the following compositions, all published by Piedmont Music Company on behalf of E.B. Marks Music Company:
Piano Concerto (“Spiritualist”) with soloist Jeffrey Biegel
Rush, an alto saxophone concerto, with soloist Timothy McAllister
Glacier, an electric guitar concerto, with soloist D.J. Sparr
Poems of Life, a song cycle for countertenor, with soloist Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen, text by Judith Wolf
The CD will be released in Fall, 2018 by Naxos, for whom Fuchs has developed four prior CDs, garnering three Grammy® nominations. Producer Tim Handley himself received two of those nominations — he has actually won six Grammys®, two for his work on another E.B. Marks publication, William Bolcom’s Songs of Innocence and of Experience (2005).
Prior to Naxos’s release of this CD, we can look forward to their release of a major collection of Fuchs’s band works, nearly all of them, recorded by the U.S. Coast Guard Band under Lieutenant Commander Adam R. Williamson. Unique to this CD is a work Fuchs composed especially for it entitled Point of Tranquility.
