Three Dozen Delights….
The title says it all, doesn’t it? Not really. Imagine one of those magazine stand puzzle books with every variety of puzzle at all difficulty levels. This Benson creation is a one-of-a-kind liturgical, choral “activity book” for lack of a better term. “Handbook” or “Primer” might apply as descriptions up to point, but this collection of three (bakers’) dozen pieces (that’s 39) are meant to be sung, used, enjoyed, admired, drawn from as a well. The pieces, 1-2 pages in length, are filled with the joy of singing and communion, and range from the sacred to the secular, the unison to the contrapuntal, the technical to the simple, the modern to the historical. Texts range from the Bible to Balzac, common prayer fragments to Dickens and Schiller.
